The Master Clock is a highly accurate time source receiver / trasnmitter. Using an external antenna (supplied), the Master Clock receives the reference signal from a Caesium Beam Oscillator, maintained at the National Physical Laboratory in Rugby. (For this reason, we are only able to offer the Master Clock for use in Great Britain). A RS 485 compatible output retransmits the time using ASCII codes. This signal can be interpreted by a Tecton Master Clock Interface to be used by Tecton Drax and Kramplex multiplexers or other compatible video multiplexers.

The clock unit is housed inside a large display that is suitable for public information and reception areas. The clock takes approximately 3 minutes to synchronise but is then accurate to +/- 20 ms.
The antenna may be located up to 200 metres away from the clock unit. Unscreened cable may be used if RF emissions are low. In the event of power failure the internal battery will maintain the count for over 60 hours.
This diagram shows a typical installation where a Master clock is used to synchronise a Kramplex multiplexer and a Screenwriter.
